Can Stairlifts be Customized to Fit Different Stairs?

Because every home is unique, the stairs in those homes are also unique. This is why at AABA Family Medical we have our technicians measure each project to ensure that the stairlift will be made to the correct size, taking into account any landings and other measurements. Each stairlift or chairlift that we install is a custom fit for your home.

How Wide do Stairs Need to be to add a Stairlift?

The stairs that the stairlift will be installed on will need to be at least 30 inches wide. We will be sure to measure your stairs to ensure that a chairlift will fit and work on your stairs before beginning installation.

What is a Stairlift's Weight Limit?

AABA Family Medical handles both Acorn and Bruno stairlifts. Acorn standard stairlifts can accommodate up to 280 pounds with their HD versions going up to 300 pounds. Bruno standard stairlifts can handle up to 300 pounds with their Elite model handling up to 400 pounds. Our team can help you determine which model is the best for your unique situation.

Can I use My Stairlift if the Electricity Goes Out?

Yes, all of the different stairlifts that we install come with a battery unit to allow your stairlift to be used several times during a power outage.

How do I Maintain a Stair Lift?

Maintaining a stairlift is fairly straightforward. The gearing on the stairlift itself requires greasing annually to ensure proper operation. The battery in your stairlift should last for several years before needing to be replaced. And of course, having our technicians perform an annual inspection is good to make sure no problems are found. Our team can also do stairlift repairs if needed.

Are Stairlifts and Chairlifts the Same Thing?

The terms stairlift and chairlift are often used interchangeably. Sometimes a chairlift refers to a chair that lifts the occupant to a semi-standing position; these are also sometimes called lift chairs.
